The 5 Best Lumintop Handheld Torches in Australia

Lumintop DF1 Pro Flashlight

The best Lumintop handheld torch for most people is the P2A: 1200 lumens, a 330 metre beam and dual-fuel power in a body the size of a marker pen. If you need something different, such as maximum output, built-in UV or extreme distance, one of the other four torches below will suit you better.

These are our five best handheld torches from the Lumintop range, ranked, with what each one is good at and who should buy it. For the story of the brand and its keyring and UV lights, see Discover Lumintop.

What to look for

Output and distance are different things

The table shows why you cannot shop on lumens alone. The DF1 Pro makes 25 times the lumens of the Thor 3, yet the Thor 3 reaches more than six times as far. The DF1 Pro spreads its light to fill a wide area. The Thor 3 squeezes its light into a narrow beam. Work out whether you need to light up what is around you or see something a long way off.

Turbo modes are short bursts

High-output torches step down from their top mode to protect themselves from heat. On the DF1 Pro, for example, Turbo holds 10,000 lumens for about 30 seconds before settling to a lower level that it can sustain for hours. Look at the medium and high modes to judge what a torch will do for most of the night.

Switches

A rear switch is easy to find by feel and suits quick, momentary use. Side switches make it simpler to move between brightness levels. The P2A has both, and the F02 gives the main beam and the auxiliary lights a switch each so you never have to cycle through UV to reach white light.

The 5 best Lumintop handheld torches

1. Lumintop P2A Rechargeable Torch

Lumintop P2A 1200 lumen rechargeable pen-style torch

A slim, pen-style torch that does nearly everything well. Tactical Mode gives instant access to maximum output from the rear switch, which suits security work and emergencies. Everyday Mode offers five brightness levels for general use. The stainless steel clip carries it securely in a pocket, and if the rechargeable cell runs flat you can drop in two AA batteries and keep going.

  • 1200 lumens, 330 metre beam
  • Tactical and Everyday modes, five brightness levels plus Strobe, SOS and Beacon
  • USB-C rechargeable 14100 battery included, also runs on 2 x AA
  • IP68 waterproof, 1 metre impact resistance

2. Lumintop DF1 Pro Searchlight

Lumintop DF1 Pro 10,000 lumen rechargeable searchlight

The one to choose when you need to light up a large area. Four LEDs produce up to 10,000 lumens, with five levels down to a 3 lumen moonlight mode that runs for up to 30 days. The 1500 lumen medium mode lasts about five and a half hours, which makes it a practical camp and property light and not just a showpiece. It also works as a power bank.

  • 10,000 lumens, 380 metre beam
  • 15,000mAh 33140 battery included, USB-C charging at up to 4A
  • Power bank function for charging other devices
  • IPX8 waterproof to 2 metres, about 620 g

3. Lumintop F02 4-in-1 Mini Torch

Lumintop F02 mini torch with white, UV, RGB and green laser

A pocket torch for people who inspect things. Alongside 1000 lumens of white light it has a 365nm UV lamp for fluorescence checks, RGB modes including a red and blue strobe, and a green laser pointer. It is about 71 mm long, charges by USB-C and sticks to steel with its magnetic tail cap.

  • 1000 lumens of white light
  • 365nm UV, RGB colour modes and green laser pointer
  • Two replaceable 10300 batteries, USB-C charging
  • Magnetic tail cap, IPX8 waterproof, about 71 g

4. Lumintop F01 Mini Triple-Beam Torch

Lumintop F01 mini triple-beam 1200 lumen torch

If you do not need UV, the F01 is the mini to buy. It pairs a wide 350 lumen floodlight with a focused 1000 lumen spotlight and combines them for a 1200 lumen Turbo. Red SOS and strobe modes cover emergencies, and it recharges in about 45 minutes.

  • 1200 lumens, 182 metre beam
  • 350 lumen flood, 1000 lumen spot and combined Turbo
  • USB-C charging in about 45 minutes
  • Magnetic tail cap, IPX8 waterproof, 71 g with batteries

5. Lumintop Thor 3 LEP Torch

Lumintop Thor 3 LEP long-throw torch

A specialist tool for distance. The Thor 3 uses a white laser emitter in place of an LED to produce a pencil-thin beam that reaches 2500 metres. It is the right choice for spotting across open country or water. It is the wrong choice for lighting up a campsite, because the beam is too narrow for close work.

  • 400 lumens, 2500 metre beam
  • 1,562,500 candela peak intensity
  • Runs on one 21700 or 18650 battery
  • IPX8 waterproof to 2 metres, 254 g

FAQ

Which Lumintop torch is best for everyday carry?

The P2A if you want reach and a clip, or the F01 if you want the smallest possible torch with both flood and spot beams.

What is an LEP torch?

LEP stands for laser-excited phosphor. A laser excites a phosphor element to create white light, which a lens then focuses into an extremely tight beam. The result is very long range from a modest lumen figure. Lumintop list their LEP models on the Lumintop official website.

Can the Lumintop P2A use normal AA batteries?

Yes. It ships with a USB-C rechargeable 14100 battery and also runs on two AA batteries.

Can the DF1 Pro charge a phone?

Yes. Its USB-C port works in both directions, so the 15,000mAh battery can be used as a power bank.

The short version

Buy the P2A unless you have a specific need. Go to the DF1 Pro for output, the F02 for UV and colour, the F01 for the smallest capable torch and the Thor 3 for distance.
